I’ve always wanted to throw a pirate party. My son’s love for the show “Jake and the Neverland Pirates” gave me the perfect excuse to throw one for his fourth birthday. The decor for this party was a little tricky because I wanted to turn the front of the house into a pirate ship, but wasn’t sure how. The answer was fabric! I used lots of fabric that I hung from the ceiling to give the look of sails. Read below to find out how this pirate parrrty came to be. Yo-ho Let’s Go!
Indoor Decorations
I hung long rolls of blue and white fabric I found at Walmart from one side of the front room to the other. I used clear pins to attach the fabric above the window on the right. I used fishing wire across the middle of the room to keep the fabric from sagging, and placed a very long tube above our picture shelf on the left to hang the rest of the fabricI found sticky contact paper that looked like wood at Dollar Tree. They had it in light and dark brown. I used the light brown to make this ‘Kyrie is 4’ banner. I found the large cardboard Bucky ship in the back on Offer UpWhen guests enter the house they head over to this table to pick up their pirate hat and eye patch. I decorated the table with shiny coins and Jake and the Neverland Pirates confettiI made this large Bucky ship using this princess castle I made for my daughter’s princess birthday party. I just reshaped it, took off the triangle entrance of the castle, covered the castle with dark brown contact paper from Dollar Tree, and added lots of little detailsI made windows out of blue construction paper and the yellow border with yellow duct tape. I covered a microphone stand with contact paper and attached the striped sail to it. I made the sail using white poster board and blue painters tape. I made the lookout tower using a round laundry basket from Dollar Tree that I covered with strips of poster board wrapped in contact paper. Finally, I added some characters I printed on cardstock from the show
No ship is complete without a helm! Here’s a clip of my daughter helping me make one for our Bucky ship. To make this helm we used 8 paper towel rolls and 8 toilet paper rolls, black painter’s tape to bind it all together, and black tissue paper with liquid glue to complete the lookI made a huge map on our living room wall using these pirate decals and these pirate decals I found on Amazon. I used thin black painter’s tape to give the look of a path on a map and red painter’s for the ‘x’ that marks the spot for the treasureI made fabric triangle banners to hang from the ceiling in the living room and kitchen I criss-crossed the banners that I hung from the ceilingI found some awesome cardboard cutouts of characters from the show on OfferUp, these were a lucky findI made this number 4 out of white foam board and black poster paper. I used extra pirate decals from our huge map on the living room wall. I added a black net to top off the lookOur treasure hunt started at Kyrie’s Pirate Cove booth. Our appetizer table. The hummus island was my fave. Here is a link to the trees on the cake. I cut out blue poster board fitted to the cake pan for a water look. Watch out Captain Hook!
